How to Connect Google Analytics to Fitted

Below are the steps you'll need to complete before connecting your Google Analytics account to Fitted.

Summary:

We're continuing to evolve our ability to provide retailers great analytics on their ecommerce storefronts with Fitted. One of the best ways we can deliver on this is through a connection to Google Analytics.

As of now we track the following events:

Please follow the below steps to configure your analytics account appropriately on Google, and connect it to your Fitted store!

How to Connect Google Analytics

Step 1: Create a Google Analytics account

The first step to set up Google Analytics for Fitted, is to make sure you have a Google Analytics (GA) account. Visit https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/analytics/ to learn more or sign in at analytics.google.com

If you already have an account for your website tracking, but would like to add a new account under your profile (basically to separate out the different tracking properties) you can do this by logging in, going to Admin in the bottom left, and clicking “ + Create Account”

Step 2: Create a new GA 4 Property

Fitted utilizes a GA 4 web property to track events, so if you have previously created or used a UA-ID or Universal Analytics property, you’ll want to follow the steps below.

  1. In “Admin” page,  look at the Account column to make sure that you've selected the right account. Then, in the Property column, click Create Property.
  2. Enter a name for the property (e.g. "My Business, Inc website") and select the reporting time zone and currency. If a visitor comes to your website on a Tuesday in their time zone, but it's Monday in your time zone, the visit is recorded as having occurred on Monday.
    • If you choose a time zone that honors Daylight Savings Time, Analytics automatically adjusts for time changes. Use Greenwich Mean Time if you don't want to adjust for Daylight Savings Time.
    • Changing the time zone only affects data going forward. If you change the time zone for an existing property, you may see a flat spot or a spike in your data, caused by the time shift forwards or backwards, respectively. Report data may refer to the old time zone for a short period after you update your settings, until Analytics servers have processed the change.
    • We recommend that you change the time zone for a property no more than once per day so Analytics can process the change.
  3. Click Next. Select your industry category and business size.
  4. Click Create and accept the Analytics Terms of Service and the Data Processing Amendment.

Step 3: Create a Data Stream

  1. In Admin, look at the “Account” column to make sure that you have your desired account selected. Then, look at the Property column to make sure that you have your desired property selected (the one you just created above)
  2. In the Property column, click Data Streams then Add stream.
  3. Click “Web” as the type of data stream.

Then Choose “Add Stream”

Finally, enter in your primary website URL i.e. arunnersmind.com and name the stream “Fitted”. Please make sure that the “Enhanced Measurement” option is toggled on. Click “Create Stream”

Step 4: Add your G- Measurement ID to Fitted

After creating your property and data stream, you’ll need to copy your Measurement ID to Fitted. It should look something like this:

G-9FZVBDF7L1

To get your measurement ID:

Once you’ve copied this ID, login to Fitted and visit the “settings” page.

You’ll notice our new “Configure Analytics” tab.

Paste your measurement ID into the “Google Analytics” field. Example: G-9FZVBDF7L1
